Dave Canterbury is a survival expert who co-starred on the reality television show Dual Survival for two seasons (2010–11) which aired on the Discovery Channel. He is also an author, publishing Bushcraft 101 in 2014 (which made The New York Times Best Seller list), Survivability for the Common Man (2011), and Advanced Bushcraft (2015). In 2015 Canterbury co-starred in a survival series called Dirty Rotten Survival, which aired on the National Geographic Channel.

He is currently the owner and one of the instructors at the Pathfinder School in southeast Ohio, teaching survival techniques, promoting what he calls the "10 C's of Survivability". Dave has a very popular YouTube channel on which he posts wilderness skills instructional videos.

I first met Dave Canterbury in 2017 when I joined him in Ohio for one of his "hammock hang-ins" and was immediately impressed with his down-home, welcoming nature and earnest desire to be sure I, and all the other guests, had what we needed and enjoyed our time together.

He was introduced to the pack grill and immediately started getting ideas how it could be used with his SRO Bush Pot to create a convection oven for baking bannock over the campfire.
